With students returning to school after the autumn break, we wanted to continue to maximise our efforts in helping where we can when it comes to supporting them with employability skills, boosting their confidence, and raising their career aspirations by broadening their understanding of the world of work.
Through our Career Champions programme, many of our employees have volunteered their time and efforts in
UEL Virtual Careers Fair
When we were invited to join the UEL Careers Fair, we knew that it would not be in the traditional setting where there would be a large room of exhibition stands hosted by a range of different organisations. However, by hosting the event virtually, Canary Wharf Group staff were able to speak with up to 40 students within the three hours. In our ‘virtual exhibition stand’ we showcased roles from different areas of the business such as Construction Planning, Project Management, Building Accounts and others.
Feedback we received from UEL: ‘Overall, they found the event quite eye opening and they really appreciated the time you dedicated to interacting with them.’
Health and Safety with Tower Project
Tower Project is a community based voluntary sector organisation and service provider for children and adults with a learning disability, sensory disability, autism, physical disability or health related issue. A group of students at Tower Project were particularly interested in learning about Health and Safety in the workplace and so we invited them to a virtual talk hosted by our Acting Associate Director at Canary Wharf Group, who specialises in Health and Safety.
Richard Cohen from Tower Project said: ‘We found the session was informative for the group, I think they were a bit shy about speaking on camera. But they came in this week with more questions about Canary Wharf and they are very excited about having a tour.’
