Canary Wharf is the home of Breaking The Plastic Habit and was the first commercial district in the world to receive Plastic Free Communities status from marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage. Since launching the programme, we have eliminated or recycled over 9 million pieces of single use plastic from Canary Wharf.
Brookfield Place Sydney have taken on the challenge of eliminating single use plastics, tackling everyday plastic items like bin liners, umbrella bags, stickers and more. To date, they have avoided, replace or recycled more than 75,000 pieces of single use plastic.
At Brookfield Place Perth, they are taking on single use plastics through a pilot programme designed to create long-term, sustainable behaviour change and eliminate unnecessary plastic wherever possible. To date, they have avoided, replaced or recycled over 1.7 million pieces of single use plastic.
ICD Brookfield launched their own version of Breaking The Plastic Habit in 2021, starting at home by removing single use plastics from their own offices, and then expanding to support their tenants and customers in their own plastic free journeys. In the first year of the programme, they have already saved over 20,000 pieces of single use plastic.
